Fredericksburg, VA, Saturday, November 28, 2020—

Joy Doll Hospital is thrilled to have their first official Joy Doll Drive hosted by The Rocking Horse Gallery, 803 Caroline St, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401 on Saturday, November 28th from 12 noon -4pm. Joy Doll Hospital and The Rocking Horse Gallery are teaming up during Small Business Saturday to receive donations of 18” American Girl dolls in any condition; new, gently used or handmade 18” doll clothing; American Girl doll shoes. Cash donations and gift cards for Target and Amazon are also greatly appreciated to purchase needed supplies. These donations will be used to further the work of Joy Doll Hospital and its 13-year-old founder and resident Doll Doctor. As the youngest member of the international Doll Doctors’ Association, she prepares and restores 18” American Girl dolls for gifting through children’s homes and various youth crisis intervention organizations like Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center. All donations are tax deductible.

The Doll Doctor will be on hand at the Joy Doll Drive to collect donations and perform evaluations of personal American Girl dolls in need of repair. Dolls can be checked into the doll hospital for pick-up in time for Christmas. (What a great Christmas idea: restoring an American Girl doll for a loved one, while supporting a meaningful cause!) Proceeds from personal doll repairs will benefit the Joy Dolls.

There will also be a raffle for an American Doll goodies gift bundle valued at over $100. Come visit the Doll Doctor and shop The Rocking Horse Gallery for one-of-a-kind gifts such as artisan teddy bears, dolls and specialty toys on Small Business Saturday!

We are excited to partner with this specialty shop in bringing the message of hope to young children in crisis. Our goal is to gather, restore and gift 50 dolls by Christmas. We would love to have you partner with us and help us reach that goal!  For more information, visit us online at joydollhospital.org

About Joy Doll Hospital, Inc.

Founded in Fredericksburg in 2019, Joy Doll Hospital is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity whose mission is to help young girls in crisis be given a message of hope. Joy Doll Hospital collects used and damaged American Girl Dolls and restores them to look brand new.  The dolls are boxed, including extra outfits and accessories, then presented to children in need.

Messages are included with the dolls to remind the children that as difficult as the past or present may be, there is HOPE; that as dark as their experiences have been and as heavy as the fear and worry they carried may have been there is someone who cares, and wants to bring them JOY!
